Snowboard lessons in Niseko

What a fantastic time we had with our guests this year. Thank you to all those who were able to come out to Niseko to play – and play we did!

Our team enjoying December’s less than average snow!

It was a shaky and slow start to the season with below average snow fall for December. We spent a lot of time skiing and snowboarding with the Sassa Grass and bamboo shoots which had yet to be buried by the metres and metres of powder snow we have become used to.

January came and the base was barely just over a metre. But there were regular overnight snowfalls, which made for great skiing and snowboarding for those who knew where to find the fresh powder. Our ski school was busier than ever before with many guests from Chinese speaking backgrounds.

Welcoming back our regular guests from Singapore, Hong Kong, and China, while introducing some new friends from Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand has been a treat. We hope you all got to ski and snowboard with your favourite instructors, while we all enjoyed taking your skills to the next level.

This season the deep powder was much harder to find, some of our guests enjoyed venturing out further to find quieter areas, even booking cat skiing tours to ensure more quality snow amongst smaller groups.

Iwanai Resort

While other guests were happy to enjoy the sunshine and the views of Mount Yotei, as there were more blue sky sunny days this year. We enjoyed visiting Kiroro, Rusutsu, Iwanai and a few others to get away from the hustle and bustle of Niseko. But ultimately it’s all about the magic moments we capture with our guests.

Creating wonderful memories

Meanwhile, the world has come to a bit of a crazy halt. Niseko United has officially closed as of Sunday, April 20, 2020. The effects of COVID-19 and Hokkaido returning to a state of emergency have definitely impacted the region. We wish everyone a healthy and active Summer whether it be at home or in isolation. Please take care and we hope to see you again for the 2020 – 2021 Winter in Niseko.
